Idaho City Hotspring-ing

On Wednesday of February break, I was lucky enough to join some lovely people for an excursion up to Idaho City to enjoy the hot springs. I joined Jennie, Juliette, Kevin, Patti, and Terah, all education and MFL department members on the snowy drive up to Idaho City. I've always wanted to go there and it was really so much closer than I expected. It was nice being able to go with other people first to kind of get an idea of what the roads and conditions and distance were like and I am definitely already preparing to go again when the weather is nicer to explore the town a bit more.

The hot springs were just outside Idaho City. The facility had really lovely changing rooms, although we showed up just after two large vans worth of women and the space was a bit crowded but once we got out into the pool area, it was just wonderful. There was an Olympic sized pool that was warm, plus a smaller pool that was even warmer and a steam room. There was a wait-staff wandering around if you wanted to order food or drink and a heated dining area to eat in you wanted.

The snow was lightly coming down on and off, which is such a surreal experience. You'll be sitting in really warm water but your shoulders are a bit cold until you dunk them under and snow is falling down on you. And if you look around you, the scenery is just gorgeous evergreens and snow covered mountains. I mean, what is this life?

We stayed just under two hours, opting for shorter time but less admission fee. We were all ravenous so we went to a local restaurant called Trudy's for dinner- and it was absolutely the most perfect thing for the end of an afternoon in the hotsprings. Delicious, home-cooked food, decadent cheesecake for dessert, and an atmosphere that celebrated Idaho City. I really cannot wait to go back there and explore more. And plus, I'm 1/5 closer to check off another 30B430 item!
